As the 1960s were drawing to a close Mike James Kirkland was inspired to interject social commentary into his musical output along with a more funky- soul and experimental side to the production. First he released "Together" b/w "The prophet" on Bryan in 1971. And he followed this up with the amazing "Hang on in there" LP in 1972. The original album and all bonus 7" cuts are included on our re-issue.

Unfortunately, the masters for this incredible release were in very poor condition. Ubiquity has done everything possible to clean up these ultra-rare recordings. Any remaining crackles were left in for archive purposes and because removal would have greatly affected the music.

The title track "Hang On In There" was recently covered by John Legend and The Roots.

Tony Joe White – “The Shine” new album

Μιά κριτική που γράφτηκε έλεγε οτι ο Tony Joe White αξίζει συγχαρητήρια μόνο και μόνο επειδή υπάρχει ακόμα στη μουσική σκηνή. Περισσότερο γνωστός για το Polk Salad Annie, από το 1969, εξακολουθεί να περιοδεύει και να κυκλοφορεί δίσκους, και είναι μόλις 67 ετων. Το τελευταίο του αλμπουμ (The Shine) δεν έχει μέσα Polk Salad Annie, και τα ελληνικά ραδιόφωνα μάλλον θα τον αγνοήσουν...( με εξαίρεση τον Εν Λευκώ), όμως ειναι ένα πολύ καλό αλμπουμ, ατμοσφαιρικό, ερωτικό, μεγαγχολικό χωρίς να γίνεται μελό, χωρίς περιττή γαρνιτούρα: φωνή, κιθάρα, μουσική.. μιλά στη καρδιά σου.

Να και το επίσημο δελτίο Τύπου για τους Belleruche. Το αλμπουμ είναι καλό, στο γνωστό "moloko" στυλ του τριο. Δυστυχώς στο αλμπουμ, τουλάχιστον αυτό που έχω στα χέρια μου, δεν συμπεριλαμβάνεται το πολύ καλό cover του Mirror In the Bathroom των Beat που είχε κυκλοφορήσει με το σινγκλ. Το Clockwatching πάντως, τώρα που άκουσα το LP, παραμένει το ωραιότερο τραγούδι του άλμπουμ.
